Places to Visit
The city of Cape Canaveral features plenty of things to see and do. Aside from the beautiful beaches and Port Canaveral, you should check out some of the area's local fare. The Astronaut Memorial Planetarium & Observatory is Florida's largest planetarium and includes star shows, a 3-story IWERKS movie theatre, hands-on demonstration hall, and a museum that honors international space explorers. The Brevard Museum of History & Science is another popular museum of choice as it houses rockets and space shuttles as well as saber-toothed tigers and mammoths! For some animal fun, you should make a visit to the Brevard Zoo and the Manatee Sanctuary Park. Of course, one can't make a visit without stopping by the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
Parks & Recreation
You can visit the community parks and recreational complexes; many include their own set of amenities like canoeing and kayaking. Jetty Park – located along the south side of the port access and right on the ocean has camping facilities and great fishing – is a great place to watch rocket launches and the cruise ships heading out to sea!
